Walk and Talk Therapy in Leeds and York

Navigating in Woods

Therapy Beyond the Therapy Room

For some people, sitting face-to-face in a therapy room can feel uncomfortable or restrictive.

Walk and Talk Therapy offers a different way of working together. Rather than meeting indoors, we meet outdoors and walk side by side whilst exploring whatever has brought you to therapy.

Many people find that being in nature, moving their body and talking whilst walking helps them feel more relaxed, grounded and able to express themselves more freely.

Walk and Talk Therapy combines the benefits of counselling with the restorative effects of spending time outdoors.

What is Walk and Talk Therapy?

Walk and Talk Therapy is simply therapy that takes place whilst walking outdoors rather than sitting in a traditional therapy room.

The therapeutic process remains the same, but the environment can create a different experience.

Being outdoors can help reduce feelings of anxiety, support emotional regulation and provide a sense of space when discussing difficult experiences.

For some people, walking side by side feels less intense than sitting opposite a therapist, making it easier to talk openly and honestly.

Benefits of Walk and Talk Therapy

Many clients choose Walk and Talk Therapy because it can:

  • Feel less formal than traditional therapy

  • Support emotional wellbeing through movement

  • Encourage a sense of calm and connection with nature

  • Help reduce feelings of stress and anxiety

  • Create space for reflection and perspective

  • Feel more comfortable for people who find face-to-face conversations challenging

Every person's experience is different, and we can discuss whether this approach feels right for you.

My Approach

The focus of Walk and Talk Therapy remains the therapeutic relationship.

As with all of my work, I aim to provide a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace.

We walk at a pace that feels comfortable for you and can pause whenever needed.

The sessions are tailored to your individual needs and goals, just as they would be in a traditional therapy setting.
